Selbyville Middle School, part of the Indian River School District, is a public Title I middle school located in Sussex County Delaware serving 770 diverse students. The focus at Selbyville Middle School is to provide the best possible teaching and learning experiences for its students. The consistent goal at Selbyville Middle School is to continually work to improve instruction for all students with a dedicated and concerted emphasis on the planning process. Increasing the amount of time educators have to plan, collaborate, and participate in Professional Learning Communities has been paramount to the success in staying true to the focus of the school and student learning. School leaders have worked to provide educators and students with technology to be used in revolutionary teaching and learning experiences through the implementation of a strong blended learning model. Selbyville Middle School was named a Recognition School for the state of Delaware for Exceptional Student Performance in 2017 and was named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence for Exemplary High Student Performance in 2018. Strong parental, community, and District support fosters an educational environment that addresses the development of the whole child. Additionally, much emphasis has been placed upon maintaining safe schools within the District. This emphasis allows faculty, staff, and students the opportunity to fulfill their roles in an environment that is highly conducive to teaching and learning.
