Hello Senator Nation, my name is Dr. Shawndell Solomon and it is my sincere pleasure and honor to have the opportunity to lead this amazing team at Dover High School (DHS). It is with great humility and confidence that I can say that my commitment to DHS is strong.

Before assuming the role of Principal, I served as the Assistant Principal supervising the Math, Science, and Daylight departments for 4 years. I came up through the ranks of William Henry Middle School, first as a 5th-grade math and science teacher, then as a Math Lead Teacher and Mentor, and finally RtI Math Interventionist.

I currently hold a Bachelor’s degree in International Marketing from CUNY Baruch College and a Master’s degree in Education from CUNY Brooklyn College. I attend the University Of Delaware Academy Of School Leadership and I hold a Principal/Assistant Principal Certification from Wilmington University. I also completed my Doctoral degree in Education Leadership and Innovation at Wilmington University.

After serving at William Henry for 10 wonderful years, I had the opportunity to join the Central Middle School team as their RtI Coordinator. It was during this endeavor that the amazing opportunity to join the DHS family came along. As I continue my work here at DHS, I plan to support the students and staff as we continue to cultivate an educational environment that will provide students with the best possible life learning experience. I look forward to new and continued relationships with students, staff, the community, and families, as we work together to build a strong sense of community for our children. Through a close and shared partnership with everyone associated with DHS, I am confident our school will continue to be a successful place for your students to learn and grow.

Joining me on this journey is my wonderful husband, David, and my own two Senators, Crystal and Caitlyn.
