Old State Elementary follows the Appoquinimink School District’s curriculum which is designed using the Common Core State Standards. These expectations are part of a nationwide effort to bring greater rigor in the adopting states and to provide educators, school boards and families with a clear picture of what young people must know and be able to do in order to compete successfully in college, the workplace and our global community. Instruction is provided in English/Language Arts, Writing, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, Music, Visual Arts, Spanish, Technology and Library. Ongoing professional development is provided to teachers in these areas in order to keep teachers abreast of the most current practices. The OSE staff is dedicated to focusing on the whole child. We strive to find a balance between rigorous curriculum, best practices and developing great citizens and leaders for the future.
