Message from the Executive Director
At Academia Antonia Alonso we embrace the richness of linguistic and cultural diversity that exists within our community. We firmly believe that this diversity offers tremendous advantages to our students' personal growth and academic development. Our commitment to bilingual education and multicultural awareness is at the very center of our mission. In today's globalized world, fluency in multiple languages is a powerful asset that opens doors to endless opportunities. We want to equip our students with the tools they need to thrive in the 21st century and beyond.
Language acquisition is a dynamic and individualized process, influenced by various factors such as age, prior or interrupted schooling, and personal motivation. We recognize that achieving advanced fluency in a second language takes between 5 to 7 years, particularly for students with strong first language and literacy skills. It may take 7 to 10 years, or more, for learners who come with limited first language and literacy skills. Understanding these influences helps us tailor language learning experiences to optimize language development and fluency in learners of all ages.
Our school firmly believes that education is a collaborative effort involving parents, educators, and the community. We value the partnership between the school and parents, as it plays a crucial role in creating a positive and joyful learning environment for our students. We encourage all parents and guardians to actively engage with our school, attend events, and programs. Their involvement and support are integral to their student's educational journey and overall growth.
